Traditional BSN Nursing Program
Lindenwood University received initial approval contingent upon forthcoming site survey (summer 2025) from the Missouri State Board of Nursing (MSBN) to add a prelicensure track to our existing RN to BSN program. The first traditional nursing class to start in Fall 2025.
Curriculum Overview
The BSN program’s curriculum is based on the perspective and industry-anticipated needs of nursing practice and standards outlined by the MSBN and accrediting bodies. The plan is structured where students complete general education and support courses in the first and second years before beginning concentrated nursing courses in the junior and senior years. Course content and learning experiences progress from simple to complex and from the care of individuals to the care of diverse families, groups, and communities. Learning experiences foster the development of knowledge, values, and essential skills required to provide professional and empathetic care to various individuals across the care continuum and lifespan.

How long is the program?
The program is designed as a 4-year degree. The first two years are pre-nursing courses, with the last two years only nursing courses.
How many students will be admitted each year?
Each new cohort will accept 48 students. A new cohort starts each fall term.
When may students apply?
For those who have completed the core pre-nursing courses, application to the nursing major will open mid-fall 2024. Program applications will be through the Nursing CAS system. More information will be published in September 2024.
Are students guaranteed entry?
No. University admission does not guarantee you will be accepted into the major as you approach junior year. A separate program application will be required and admission to the major will be competitive. All core pre-nursing courses must be completed (or will be completed) prior to consideration for a seat in the nursing program.
May student athletes apply to and succeed in the program? Will training and competition schedules conflict with the curriculum?
Student athletes may apply, granted all general education and support courses have been met. The courses in the junior and senior years will include required clinical components. Nursing faculty and athletics will collaborate to ensure student athletes fulfill clinical course expectations.
What should students do in the meantime?
Students intending to applying to the major (nursing course years) in fall 2024 should:
- Focus on strong academic performance, especially in mathematics and sciences.
- Develop rigorous study habits.
- Continually meet with advisors Kate Knight or Julie Bergen to ensure the proper course sequence is followed and all required general education and support courses are completed satisfactorily.
Seek assistance as needed, such as tutoring, counseling, etc.
What if a student is not following the study plan suggested for Fall I, 2023: Year 1, Semester 1?
Students whose current courses differ from the suggested study plan should meet with an advisor, Kate Knight or Julie Bergen, to develop an appropriate study plan to ensure missing courses are taken in subsequent semesters.
