Award-winning faculty members focus on teaching and mentoring to make Lindenwood University's Psychology program stand out.
Why Psychology at Lindenwood University?
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. A psychology degree at Lindenwood prepares you for both postgraduate study in the field and for the broader job market. Our psychology majors develop their skills in critical thinking, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving - skills universally sought after by employers.
Our faculty believe in student-focused learning and emphasize teaching, advising, and mentorship of our students. We offer research and service opportunities as well as practicum experiences for our students, preparing them for both post-graduate studies and employment.
Research Opportunities
Hands-on research experiences deepen our students’ understanding of psychology. Several of our courses provide students the opportunity to participate in, as well as design and conduct, research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Based on their research, many of our students have given award-winning presentations at local, regional, national, and international conferences. Our program has also hosted regional and local conferences on campus.
Service Opportunities
Members of our department regularly seek ways to serve the surrounding community by volunteering for various projects and participating in fundraisers. Recent service projects included participating in the Alzheimer's Walk, working with Habitat for Humanity, and providing services or needed items to local community organizations and charities.
Practicum Experiences
Advanced students may obtain practical experience in the context of a professional practice setting to enhance opportunities for graduate school admission or employment.
